Job summary

Qualifications

  • Solid knowledge of AML regulations and FATF guidance.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, organize, document, and present large volumes of information clearly.
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate university degree is an asset.
  • AML-related credentials (ACAMS, ACFCS) are asset.

Responsibilities

  • Review Correspondent Banking clients at onboarding, during periodic reviews, and for ad hoc reviews.
  • Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders to ensure alignment with Enterprise AML standards.
  • Gather and validate information for compliance and governance reports (e.g., Qualitative Assessment Report).
  • Assess risk trends and document changes in client risk profiles.
  • Identify and mitigate AML-related risks including adverse media and geographical exposure.
  • Investigate risk concerns using AML tools (e.g., World-Check One, Bankers Almanac).
  • Prepare written reports with risk-based recommendations for high-risk clients.
  • Maintain records in compliance with regulatory requirements (OSFI/FINTRAC).
  • Coach/train analysts and maintain trackers for assigned cases.

What you’ll be doing

The Client Services (CS) Due Diligence (DD) team holds a global mandate for Risk Reviews and occasional onboarding for the Capital Markets lines of business. The DD team is primarily responsible for conducting periodic Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews for Global Transaction Banking’s (GTB) portfolio of correspondent bank clients. Reporting to the Director or Team Leader, the Associate, Client Services will conduct client risk assessments, including a thorough review of adverse media and geopolitical risks associated with all jurisdictions where the bank operates. The role also involves coordinating compliance meetings as required. The Due Diligence team partners closely with internal /external stakeholders to ensure that best AML practices are consistently applied. As a member of the CS DD team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the successful execution of CIBC’s Enterprise AML framework as it pertains to GTB’s correspondent banking clients. You will also participate in Capital Markets strategic initiatives under the leadership of the Head of Client Services. How you’ll succeed
  • Client Review & Assessment – Review Correspondent Banking clients at onboarding, during periodic reviews, and for triggered event/ad hoc reviews.
  • Collaborate with teams across CIBC to confirm a client’s relationships across the Enterprise and ensure alignment with all applicable Enterprise AML standards.
  • KYC & Client Information – Gather and validate information to assist in the preparation of compliance and governance reports, such as the Qualitative Assessment Report.
  • Assess and highlight risk trends, review product information, and document any changes in the overall client risk profile.
  • Risk Mitigation – Identify and mitigate risks to CIBC, including those related to adverse media, transactional activity, geographical exposure, and other key risk factors.
  • Investigate potential risk-related concerns through analysis and the use of AML‑specific investigative tools, such as World‑Check One, Bankers Almanac, and other sources.
  • Reporting – Investigate AML risk‑related concerns and assess due diligence areas as required.
  • Ensure AML and compliance reports are complete, accurate, and processed in a timely manner for submission to GTB Relationship Managers and other internal stakeholders, in accordance with existing SLAs.
  • Maintain and document records in compliance with regulatory requirements (OSFI/FINTRAC) and CIBC Enterprise standards.
  • Recommendations – Provide high‑quality, risk‑based recommendations to support client relationships that can withstand scrutiny from business personnel, compliance, internal/external audit, and regulators.
  • Prepare written reports with recommendations to effectively address high‑risk clients.
  • Tracking – Maintain a risk review tracker to ensure all client risk reviews are completed before the designated review dates.
  • Team Development – You will coach/train analysts and new team members, as needed and ensure Analysts’ submission trackers for all assigned cases are kept up-to-date by both Analyst and Reviewer.

3+ years of experience in AML/KYC, preferably within Capital Markets or Correspondent Banking.

Strong understanding of CIBC AML/ATF Standards and Capital Markets products/transactions is required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

You can demonstrate knowledge. Solid knowledge of AML regulations and FATF guidance.

Ability to gather, analyze, organize, document, and present large volumes of information in a succinct and organized manner.

You have a degree/diploma. Undergraduate or postgraduate university degree is an asset.

AML-related credentials (e.g., ACAMS, ACFCS) are considered an asset.
