Overview

The Associate Auditor – Social Accountability is responsible for conducting detailed assessments of client organizations to ensure compliance with social accountability standards such as SA8000, Sedex SMETA, and WRAP. As an APSCA-registered CSCA Level 3 auditor, they evaluate working conditions, labor practices, and corporate social responsibility initiatives. The role involves conducting on-site assessments, preparing reports, and making certification recommendations. Additionally, the auditor promotes BSI\'s solutions to help clients improve business performance and manage risk effectively.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Undertake management system assessments announced/unannounced in accordance with BSI scheme requirements.
  • Prepare assessment reports and deliver findings to clients to ensure client understanding of the assessment decision and clear direction to particular items of corrective action where appropriate.
  • Recommend the issue, re-issue or withdrawal of certificates, and report recommendations in accordance with BSI policy, procedures and prescribed time frame.
  • Lead assessment teams as required ensuring that team members are adequately briefed so that quality of service is maintained and that effective working relationships are sustained both with Clients and within the team.
  • Establish and develop an effective partnership, which secures the commercial relationship and encourages opportunities for business development and increased client satisfaction with clients in your portfolio.
  • Provide accurate and prompt information to support services, working closely with them to ensure that client records are up to date and complete and that all other internal information requirements are met.
  • Monitor Corrective Actions: Follow up on the review & implementation of corrective actions and continuous improvement measures and recommend for certification/ continuance of certification.
Your skills and experience
  • Mandatory: APSCA-registered CSCA Level 3 qualification in good standing.
  • Education: Bachelor\'s degree in social sciences, human resources, labor relations, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Training in SA8000 and experience with Sedex SMETA, RBA, WRAP, or similar standards.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of conducting social accountability audits and 3–5 years in auditing, HR, compliance, or corporate social responsibility.
  • Preferred: Experience in factory or supply chain settings.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Canadian labor laws, human rights principles, and international labor standards.
  • Language: English Essential. Bilingual (English and French) preferred.
