Job summary

RBC Dominion Securities in Ottawa is seeking an Associate Advisor to partner with the Investment Advisor team, delivering proactive advice and support to clients while growing the business. You will help deepen existing relationships and welcome new clients, identifying opportunities for assets and referrals.

The role requires licensure, CFA/CIM, and at least 5 years in investment management with strong English communication.

Qualifications

  • Licensed with CIRO as a Registered Representative.
  • CFA and/or CIM designation required.
  • Investment management experience with client portfolios.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience handling portfolios and clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication.
  • Strong skills with business applications/technology, including MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients in developing investment strategies and selecting products.
  • Support cross-sells of banking services and advise on financial matters.
  • Expand relationships through prospecting, networking and referrals.
  • Create financial plans and help build investment portfolios (stocks, bonds, funds).
  • Lead client meetings and manage follow-ups and inquiries.
  • Support wealth management business plans and client service strategies.
  • Cultivate relationships with Centers of Influence (COIs) and RBC partners.
  • Conduct market research and provide updates to the advisory team.
  • Execute the team’s business development strategy and pursue asset consolidation.

What is the opportunity?

As an Associate Advisor, you will work with the Investment Advisor team and be responsible for providing proactive advice and support to our clients and the Investment Advisor, helping deepen existing relationships and welcome new clients to the firm. Identifying new opportunities and helping to grow the business will be a key and exciting part of your role.

What will you do?
  • Assists customers in the development of investment strategies and selecting the best products to support such strategies.
  • Supports cross-sells of banking services and counsels customers on financial matters and investment instruments.
  • Expands existing relationships and develops new customer relationships through prospecting, networking, and referrals.
  • Establishes individual financial plans and helps customers build investment portfolios, including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, etc. based on financial needs and objectives.
  • Manage client relationships by preparing for and leading meetings, effectively responding to client account inquiries and taking ownership of follow-ups.
  • Help build and execute business plans, Wealth Management objectives and client service plans.
  • Nurture and manage valuable relationships with Centers of Influence (COIs) and RBC partners.
  • Conduct ongoing research on markets and investments and provide regular updates to the advisory team.
  • Execute on the team's formal business development strategy and identify opportunities for asset consolidation and referrals across the existing client base.
What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Licensed with CIRO as a Registered Representative
  • CFA and/or CIM
  • Investment management experience and capabilities
  • Must have minimum of 5 years relative industry experience managing portfolios and clients
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong skills working with business applications/technology, including Microsoft Office Suite

Nice to Have

  • 4 years or more of professional experience within the investment industry
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Highly developed client service skills

Compensation

Compensation for this position (including salary and discretionary/variable payments) will be determined by factors, including but not limited to candidate's experience, skills, registration status, performance, individual goals, market conditions, and business needs.

Pay Range

The expected pay range for this position is:

  • $38,000.00- $60,000.00

This position includes competitive-based pay, and the overall earning potential is impacted by a variable incentive structure, earning a multiple of salary up to:

  • 1.5x
