The Opportunity:
WSP is actively seeking a junior Field Technician to support our wind/solar field services team. Based in our Calgary office, this position will require frequent travel to remote project locations throughout Alberta/Saskatchewan and various other locations within Canada.
The successful candidate will work with a team responsible for the installation and maintenance of wind/solar meteorological towers A commitment to safety and the ability to work long days outside in all weather conditions are critical.

What you can expect to do here:
- Manual labour, including heavy lifting (50+ lbs)
- Maintain vehicles, trailers, hand/power tools, and supplies
- Follow direction of field services supervisor
- Communicate with field services project managers/managers
- Actively participate in WSP safety program
- Document site activities, including digital notes and photos
- Make contributions to company knowledge management and practice systems
- Learn and excel through daily project work
- Other duties as assigned
What you'll bring to WSP:
- Flexible schedule, including the ability to work long days and to work out of town in remote locations for extended periods of time (typical schedule is 5 days on, 2 days off but flexibility is appreciated)
- Ability to perform manual labour, including safely loading/unloading/entering/exiting trucks/trailers/WSP facilities
- A valid driver’s license and ability to provide clean driver’s abstract (driving ½ ton to 1 ton trucks with 16-20 ft car/enclosed trailers 500-1000 km would be an asset)
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Self motivated, accountable, and attention to detail
- Ateam player who thrives on working with other successful, energetic people
- Excellent communicator, with strong listening, comprehending, written, and presentation skills
- Willingness to get trained/experience in working at heights for climbing lattice towers/rope work will be considered an asset
- Experience/interest with 4 seasons of outdoor weather, meteorological towers, data logging, remote sensing devices, remote power supplies, satellite/cellular/radio communication systems, UAV operation, UAV/DSLR photography, CAD, steel/aluminum fabrication, and meteorological sensors (weather stations), sports, small engine repair or similar will be considered an asset
