Job summary

A global sweet-packaged food company is searching for an Assistant Shopper Marketing Manager to support marketing strategies and execution. In this role, you will manage POS materials, collaborate with cross-functional teams, track marketing effectiveness, and oversee budget management. The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education in Business or Marketing, and a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience, preferably in the CPG industry. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential. This position offers a dynamic work environment in Toronto, Ontario.

Assistant Shopper Marketing Manager & In Store Activation (Maternity Leave Contract)
About the Role:

The Assistant Shopper Marketing & In Store Activation Manager supports the development and execution of shopper marketing strategies and activation plans that drive shopper engagement and conversion across key retailers. You’ll collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams—including Brand Marketing, Sales, and Field Operations—as well as external agencies and retailer marketing teams to bring brand strategies to life in‑store and online.

Main Responsibilities:
Point of Sale Materials Development
  • Coordinate and manage the development of POS materials, including defining requirements, briefing vendors on structural design, obtaining quotes, vendor selection, and overseeing creative development.
  • Partner with the Field Team to ensure successful in‑store execution and create clear communication toolkits with placement guidelines and execution standards.
  • Track and report on execution effectiveness and gather field feedback.
Shopper Marketing Program Execution
  • Support the development of the annual Shopper Marketing plans, aligned with brand and sales strategies, working collaboratively with cross‑functional teams (Marketing, Sales, Field Team).
  • Execute integrated Shopper Marketing programs from brief through to implementation, working with external agencies (Retailer Marketing teams and creative agencies) on developing creative and activation elements.
Analytics and Reporting
  • Track and report on Shopper Marketing and POS performance to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Analyze results/data, identify key learnings, insights and areas of opportunity to optimize future campaigns.
Budget Management
  • Manage Shopper Marketing and POS budgets, including purchase orders, invoice processing, and tracking of expenses against plan. Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to financial guidelines.
About You:
  • Post Secondary education in Business, Marketing or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in Shopper Marketing, Trade marketing, Sales or Brand Marketing, ideally within the CPG industry.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian retail landscape and shopper behaviour.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong Project Management and organization skills.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, experience with Neilsen or similar data tools is an asset.
  • A collaborative team player with a proactive, solution‑oriented mindset.
