A prestigious independent boarding school in Nova Scotia is looking for a part-time Assistant Rowing Coach to support the Lead Coach in delivering training and ensuring athletes' performance. The Assistant Rowing Coach is the vital “hands‑on” partner to the Lead Coach, focusing on the dynamic daily execution that powers the team forward. Reporting to the Head of Rowing, this role is centered on delivering the Weekly Training Plans and workouts, providing direct supervision and sharp technical feedback to athletes to ensure flawless technique and form. The Assistant Coach is expected to commit to an afternoon training schedule 3 days per week during the school year, totaling about 8–10 hours weekly for approximately 30 weeks during the school year, with additional intensity required for multi‑day regattas and training camps (all travel expenses covered).
Support the Lead Coach in crew selection, track athlete performance data for reports, and assist with athlete progression across programs. Serve as a proactive guardian of the program, constantly enforcing safety protocols, helping to maintain a fun and safe environment, and ensuring all boats and equipment are in top condition through regular inspections.
This role is ideal for an organized and communicative coach with a competitive rowing background, a proven ability to flawlessly execute training direction, and a profound passion for mentoring and developing the whole student‑athlete.
