This is an evening work schedule that includes every weekend providing for 2 days off during the week.

Reporting to the Residence Dining Manager and working in conjunction with the Executive Chef daily, the Assistant Residence Dining Manager will assist with daily Food Service operations in the residence dining hall at University of Toronto, Scarborough. This will include supervision of staff, and helping to plan, organize and direct all aspects of the Food Service operations on a day-to-day basis.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the food services, including delegating tasks, motivating, and coaching employees as required.
  • Meet daily with the Manager and Chef to discuss operational and staffing concerns.
  • Assist with flow of day-to-day operations on the floor.
  • Manage and direct food production planning, waste management, record keeping, follow up, and modification based on business volumes.
  • Ensure food safety standards and HACCP always enforced.
  • Proactively manage food and labor cost controls.
  • Assist with the recruitment, training, and orientation of staff.
  • Responsible for assisting in staff scheduling and filling shifts as needed.
  • Assist in dealing with staff related issues such as vacation requests, progressive discipline, and other operational concerns as they arise.
  • Responsible for supervising cash handling procedures, which include balance cash register, verify deposit and random cashier audits.
  • Responsible for completing all safety documentation.
  • Resolve customer complaints as they arise, escalating to the Manager as necessary.
  • Fill in for the Residence Dining Manager when required.
  • Ensure adherence to ARAMARK’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to ARAMARK’s Health and Safety Policy.
  • Other duties as assigned by management from time to time.
Qualifications
  • Able to work all evening shifts and every weekend evening.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years supervisory experience in a food service environment.
  • Self-directed with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Previous culinary or production planning experience an asset.
  • Strong organizational and team building skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate team members.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft, Excel, Power Point and Word.
  • Extensive knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards.
  • Advanced. Food Service Training is required or provided.
  • Allergen training required or provided.
  • Experience with scheduling and hiring.
  • Proven ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
