About the Role

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for the project and is accountable for satisfying The Company and the client in terms of quality, safety, timeliness and cost. This position is project site based and may require travel outside of Ontario. Individual assignments will vary based on project scope, phase, and job requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops, maintains, updates, distributes and manages estimates.
  • Manages and monitors the critical path on the master schedule.
  • Identifies project-staffing needs and develops the overall plan for constructing the project.
  • Controls expenses and costs on the project and ensures billing is done accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Monitors accounts receivable and contacts clients or subcontractors to determine reasons for non-payment.
  • Reviews and approves charges to the project.
Management Competencies
  • Ensures drawings are assembled, updated routinely and maintained.
  • Coordinates support functions including project start up with internal and external team members.
  • Manages risk exposures on the project and ensures equipment and supplies with a long lead-time are ordered.
  • Conducts daily meetings with Superintendent and regular meetings with subcontractors.
  • Leads, models appropriate behavior and ensures the AQM philosophy is followed throughout the project.
  • Approves subcontractor invoices for payment and manages all labor relations and jurisdiction.
Qualifications & Experience
  • BS Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field and 2 to 5 years experience in project engineering, construction project management or related activities with exposure to projects of moderate scope.
  • Previous experience as the lead construction manager on projects between $7-$15 million is strongly desired.
