Description:

The Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) invites applications for a full-time teaching stream appointment in the field of Computer Science (Open Area). The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Hold a position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in Computer Science.
  • Teach in undergraduate programs: include lecture preparation/delivery and curriculum development.
  • Contribute to course coordination, manage teaching assistants, and participate in departmental administration as appropriate.
  • Engage with students inside and outside the classroom (seminars, contests, workshops, student-run initiatives).
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellent pedagogical practices and ongoing pedagogical inquiry.
  • Contribute to teaching-related scholarly activities and professional development.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field required; PhD in Computer Science or related field by appointment date or shortly thereafter preferred.
  • Teaching experience in an undergraduate program, including lecture preparation/delivery and curriculum development.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Evidence of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and contributions to the department’s strengths; ability to foster diversity on campus and in the curriculum.
  • Experience with supervising undergraduate or graduate research projects is a plus; preference for candidates who contributed to departmental administration (e.g., course coordination, TA management).
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and pedagogical innovation, supported by teaching dossiers, syllabi, course evaluations, and reference letters.
Salary and Conditions

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
