Assistant Professor of Biomedical Sciences

The Division of BioMedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applications related to any subspecialty covering the biomedical and biological aspects of human health and diseases are welcome.

Successful candidates are required to hold a PhD (or equivalent) and demonstrate a track record of research excellence through postdoctoral experience and strong publications in the field of biomedical science. The ideal candidate will establish an independent and externally funded innovative research program that complements and expands upon the strengths of the existing research groups within the Division. We particularly welcome candidates whose work opens new opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration within the Division. In addition, the successful applicants will demonstrate their capacity and commitment to excellence in teaching and be expected to contribute to medical education, as well as undergraduate and graduate training programs.

The Division of Biomedical Sciences houses five graduate programs in cardiovascular science, neuroscience, bioscience of health and disease, immunology and infectious diseases and human genetics and genomics. Faculty enjoy an attractive research environment with access to a new animal resource center and core facilities that include state-of-the-art equipment for flow cytometry, cellular bioanalysis, multiphoton, confocal, and super resolution imaging, as well as whole-genome sequencing. High-level computational biology infrastructure is available through the Centre for Analytics, Informatics and Research (CAIR) at Memorial and the Atlantic Canada Computational Excellence Network (ACEnet). Collaborative research opportunities exist among the Divisions groups and the Disciplines within the Faculty. Furthermore, there are research and teaching opportunities within the Faculties of Science, Engineering, and the Ocean Sciences Centre.
