The Departments of Automotive and Mechatronics Engineering and Engineering (AME) and Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (MME) invites applications from qualified individuals, for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor with a research background in all the area solidmechanics with emphasison Mechatronics Engineering. The department Faculty hasa particular (but not limited to) interest in applicants with expertise in ,digital twin, mechatronics systems, mechanicalsystem dynamics and simulation. This position is expected to start in January 2027, subject to budgetary approval.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct active and innovative research programs and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In keeping with a technology‑enhanced learning environment and platforms, Ontario Tech seeks successful faculty who strive to explore and develop new pedagogies. The successful candidate must possess a PhD in the area of Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a strong academic background; an established record of excellence in innovative and experimental research leading to peer-reviewed publications. The candidate is further expected to be registered as a Professional Engineer or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in Ontario. The successful candidate must also demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions. In addition, the candidate should possess excellent English language skills demonstrating an ability to ensure strong, two‑way communications on an ongoing basis that contribute to collaborative/collegial relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 40% Research, 40% Teaching and 20% Service workload each year.

The Faculty offers Honours undergraduate degrees in related areas of the advertised position including but not limited to Mechanical, Mechatronics and Manufacturing engineering. It also offers the corresponding Engineering and Management degrees for all the programs. In addition, the Department offers Master’s (MASc and MEng) and PhD programs in Mechanical Engineering (with various specializations), and a graduate program (MEng) in Engineering Management. This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
