Job summary

Farm Boy Inc. in Whitby is seeking a dedicated supervisor to join the Department Manager in delivering outstanding service and strong operational performance. You’ll coach and engage team members, uphold standards, and drive a culture of trust and accountability.

You’ll lead regular huddles, support daily operations, manage inventory, scheduling, and payroll tasks, while ensuring safe food handling and a clean, welcoming shopping environment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a post-secondary program with a business focus.
  • Minimum 1 year of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver warm, confident customer service reflecting Farm Boy's commitment to the best fresh shopping experience.
  • Collaborate with Department Manager to implement departmental strategies and achieve stated goals and performance objectives.
  • Coach and develop team through training, motivation, and recognition while maintaining a high level of trust, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Lead regular team huddles to share goals, recognize achievements, exchange product knowledge, and provide meaningful feedback to build engagement and connection.
  • Support daily operations by ensuring outstanding customer service, accurate merchandising and rotation, adequate staffing coverage, and consistent department cleanliness.
  • Provide office and administrative support, including inventory management, ordering, invoicing, schedule maintenance, and payroll functions.
  • Promote compliance with Safe Food Handling and Health & Safety policies, procedures, and provincial regulations to maintain a safe and high-quality shopping environment.
  • Contribute to store success by assisting with other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • A genuine passion for delivering engaging and exceptional customer service.
  • Completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in business, plus a minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment by effectively managing competing priorities while maintaining a high level of performance.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills supported by a clear, professional communication style.
  • Comfort learning and using manual and automated systems, with prior experience working with a variety of computer software programs.
  • Thrive in a hands‑on setting that involves extended periods of standing, heavy lifting, and work that may be performed in cooler, freezer, and outdoor conditions.
  • Flexibility to work a dynamic schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fluency in English; French language skills considered an asset.
