Job summary

Farm Boy is seeking a Department Supervisor to help deliver exceptional customer service and operational excellence in Kingston. You will work with the Department Manager to execute strategies, coach and engage team members, and ensure smooth daily operations like merchandising, staffing, and cleanliness.

Ideal candidates will have a post-secondary business-focused program and at least one year of supervisory experience, with strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in business and a minimum of 1 year of supervisory or management experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments while managing competing priorities and maintaining performance.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills with clear professional communication.
  • Comfort using manual and automated systems and various computer software programs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver warm, confident customer service reflecting Farm Boy’s standards.
  • Collaborate with the Department Manager to execute departmental strategies and goals.
  • Lead regular team huddles to share goals and provide feedback.
  • Support daily operations: merchandising, staffing coverage, and department cleanliness.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, invoicing, scheduling, and payroll tasks.
  • Promote Safe Food Handling and Health & Safety compliance.

  • Work closely with the Department Manager to execute departmental strategies and achieve stated goals and performance objectives.
  • Support team development through training, coaching, motivation, and recognition while maintaining a high level of trust, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Lead regular team huddles to share goals, recognize achievements, exchange product knowledge, and provide meaningful feedback to build engagement and connection.
  • Support daily operations by ensuring outstanding customer service, accurate merchandising and rotation, adequate staffing coverage, and consistent department cleanliness.
  • Provide office and administrative support, including inventory management, ordering, invoicing, schedule maintenance, and payroll functions.
  • Promote compliance with all Safe Food Handling and Health & Safety policies, procedures, and provincial regulations to maintain a safe and high-quality shopping environment.
  • Contribute to store success by assisting with other related duties as required.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills supported by a clear, professional communication style.
  • Comfort learning and using manual and automated systems, with prior experience working with a variety of computer software programs.
  • Thrive in a hands-on setting that involves extended periods of standing, heavy lifting, and work that may be performed in cooler, freezer, and outdoor conditions.
  • Flexibility to work a dynamic schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fluency in English; French language skills considered an asset.
