Carleton University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Aerospace Engineering within the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Applicants must have expertise in Aerospace, but the position is open to a wide range of knowledge. Experiences related to aeronautical/space industries, government agencies, or research institutes/centres would be an asset. Candidates with expertise in airframe multidisciplinary design and optimization, aerospace vehicle performance, or avionics are encouraged to apply. The target start date is July 1, 2026, although this is flexible.
The candidate should have the vision and capabilities to lead interdisciplinary, multi-institution, and industrially supported research projects in their area of expertise. Candidates seeking a balanced academic career involving significant research, supervision and training of a research team of graduate and undergraduate students, and innovative teaching in undergraduate and graduate engineering programs, are ideal.

At the Bachelor’s level, the Department has 4 programs: Mechanical, Aerospace, Biomedical & Mechanical, and Sustainable & Renewable Energy Engineering. The Aerospace Engineering program is divided into 4 streams: Stream A (Aerodynamics, Propulsion, and Vehicle Performance), Stream B (Aerospace Structures, Systems, and Vehicle Design), Stream C (Aerospace Electronics and Systems), and Stream D (Space Systems Design). At the Master’s level, the Department offers degrees in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials, Biomedical, and Sustainable Energy Engineering. At the Ph.D. level, the Department offers degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
