Purpose

As an Assistant Manager on the Structured Notes and Global Equity Derivatives Middle Office team, you will play a key role in the issuance of Structured Notes, and their trade lifecycle events. You will contribute to the overall success of the Middle Office ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objective while ensuring all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for a broad array of operational duties including, but not limited to, Trade Life Cycle support, trade administration, trade verification, compliance monitoring, reconciliation oversight, and client service related tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting an expansive and diverse array of products services (Stocks, Derivatives, Structured Notes)
  • Provide support on Structured Note Issuances by liaising with internal stakeholders, depositories, and agents to ensure processes are followed and notes are issued and settled in a timely manner.
  • Trade Verification processes between the legal documents and note booking systems to minimize risk to bank and customers.
  • Follow established procedures to identify problems related to securities and derivatives settlement that require investigation or research.
  • Timely management and escalation of all requests inquiries issues errors.
  • Utilize strong communication, interpersonal and diplomacy skills to interact with colleagues and stakeholders, and to exchange potentially complex sensitive information, while being sensitive to audience diversity.
  • Operate independently, identifying and resolving issues with minimal oversight. Capable and comfortable operating within tight deadlines, able to make quick decisions, and able to quickly learn about the business/issues, without necessarily having any prior direct experience with the subject matter.
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Champion a culture of continuous operational improvement by independently resolving highly complex, multi-faceted problems to meet the business needs across MO with a specific focus on creating tangible / measurable operational efficiencies. This involves opportunity identification, preparing proposals, defining business requirements and processes, developing, testing, conversion and implementation strategies, developing detailed project plans, monitoring progress against planned objectives, and securing consensus and cooperation from users and senior management.
Qualifications
  • 3 years post-graduate experience in industry or academia in capital markets, finance and banking and/or process improvement, business analysis and solution implementation is preferred.
  • Solid knowledge/experience in banking/capital markets operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to negotiate, influence and interact professionally with a diverse group of Front Office Users, QAs, Developers, and SMEs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of analytical problem solving and process engineering techniques (i.e. process mapping and analysis techniques).
  • Strong technical abilities including knowledge of basic software engineering principles and experience in SQL, VBA, Access, Excel preferred, and a sound understanding of operational processes.
  • Result oriented, deadline driven, self-motivated.
Work Arrangement
  • Work in a standard office-based and/or remote environment; non-standard hours may be required depending on projects/initiatives in flight. No travel required.
