Assistant Manager - Retail

Job Type: Part-time | Pay: $16.10–$20.00 per hour | Starts: ASAP
Responsibilities
- Manage day‑to‑day operations of the café.
- Recruit, train, and supervise café staff.
- Prepare weekly staff schedules and find suitable replacements for absences.
- Ensure proper employee clock‑in/out procedures.
- Train staff on drink preparation and use of coffee equipment.
- Coordinate with vendors and order supplies (e.g., takeaway cups, coffee, milk).
- Receive and verify delivered café supplies.
- Take inventory of supplies and restock as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of daily, weekly, and monthly revenues and expenses.
- Keep café expenses within budget and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
- Add new menu items based on seasonal trends and customer preferences (e.g., vegan coffee).
- Advise staff on resolving client issues and delivering excellent service.
- Ensure all café areas remain clean and tidy.
- Build friendly customer relationships to increase loyalty and reputation.
- Handle complaints about food quality and service.
- Suggest menu improvements based on customer feedback.
- Develop strategies to retain and attract customers.
Requirements & Skills
- Proven management experience as a café/restaurant manager or barista.
- Experience with professional coffee machines.
- Good math skills.
- Hardworking and reliable.
- Available to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate a team.
- Customer‑service orientation.
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field is a plus.
- Knowledge of food‑health and safety regulations.
- Strong business acumen and solid management skills.
