Job summary

Sobeys Inc. in Mill Bay, British Columbia, is seeking an Assistant Produce Manager to support and assist the Produce Manager in operating the department efficiently and within budget.

You will lead staff, manage scheduling and labour costs, and uphold food safety and SOPs to ensure excellent customer experiences. The role focuses on coaching, inventory, merchandising, and maintaining standards that drive sales while maximizing margins.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum of 12 months of retail store experience in applicable department.
• Available to work a variety of shifts including weekends and evenings.

• Monitor the implementation of all corporate policies, initiatives, and SOPs.

The Assistant Produce Manager supports and assists the Produce Manager in the efficient and fiscally responsible operation of the department. The Assistant Manager will lead, manage, coach, motivate and train staff to achieve the highest level of customer service, adherence to all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, corporate policies and Health and Safety, and other programs and initiatives. The Assistant Manager assists in scheduling, management of labour costs, budgets, inventory control, presentation and merchandising, and in the hiring and training of staff. The Assistant Manager will foster customer loyalty, fulfill customer needs and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement.

• Demonstrate growth in product knowledge, including awareness of product changes, promotions, and seasonal trends
• Order, receive, organize, rotate, merchandise and present products and stock in accordance with company standards
• Monitor the implementation of all corporate policies, initiatives, and Standard Operating Procedures, including timely and accurate submission of all relevant documentation as required
• Ensure OH&S, food safety, and other regulatory requirements and procedures are implemented and maintained
• Assist the Department Manager in achieving financial targets and maximizing sales and margins, including forecasting, variance analysis and correction, and labour cost control
• Support with managing the department budget
• Thorough understanding of all relevant company programs; attend training as required
• Supports an environment of employee engagement
• Provide feedback for continuous improvement
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment as per Company requirements
• Other duties as required
