The successful candidate will be able to meet the needs of each individual as well as the needs of the group in their daily practice. It is essential for the individual to have excellent interpersonal skills and work effectively within a dynamic, innovative team environment. Experience and/or training working with children with diverse needs is an asset. In addition, this individual will spend a lot of time outside and fulfill some light housekeeping duties. APPLICANT MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE AT LEAST IN ORDER TO SUPERVISE CHILDREN BY THEMSELVES AS PER PROVINICAL LICENSING RULESThe Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementing, and supervising of Out of School Care activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of children in the program in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. The Assistant Manager will support early childhood educators in their daily activities, assist with developing programs and activities for children, and promote a welcoming and positive environment. They will also assist the Childcare Services Manager with the hiring and orientation process, employee performance reviews, and with the day-to-day operations of the programs. The Assistant Manager will build positive and respectful relationships with children and parents, and ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and well maintained.The start date of this position is as soon aspossible with an end date of March 31, 2026.Work PerformedEnsure safety and welfare of each child, educators and visitors to the programCoordinate staff schedulingSupport the educators with planning, documentation and understanding of Flight, Alberta’s curriculum framework.Ensure educators are designing and maintain a developmentally appropriate learning environment for childrenMaintain close communication with fellow educators on the development and progress of each child, offering support and guidance if needed.Supervise, support and mentor all educators, practicum students and administrative staffParticipate in the hiring and orientation of new educatorsPromote and maintain harmonious relationships between childcare staffEncourage participation of all staff in problem solving independentlyParticipate in room planning sessions to ensure well-coordinated and effective service deliveryDeliver feedback and input to the manager for annual employee growth plans.Prepare monthly newsletters and correspondence with familiesOrganize, attend and participate in all staff meetings and team meetingsMaintain provincial standards and regulations and keep up to date with current child care philosophyInitiate, establish and maintain a continuing positive and supportive relationship with familiesPerform parent orientations for new to Out of School Care familiesExplain the operation and functions of the childcare programs to parents, other educators and the communityThe rate of pay will be based on the successful candidates’ level of certification.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEYour resume and cover letter must clearly describe howyou meet the following qualifications:Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Educator Level 3 or higher certification.
