Position: Assistant Manager, Conversions

Department

Department: Facility Operations & Engineering

Reports to: Manager, Conversions

Position Summary

The Assistant Manager, Conversions is responsible for leading the building conversions and set up at Rogers Arena (both daytime and graveyard shifts). In addition, the Assistant Manager, Conversions will assist the Manager, Conversions in the planning and implementation of associated work tasks, as well as supervise the team to ensure proper completion and efficient and cost-effective service is provided to both internal and external clients.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

(Other duties may be assigned as required)

  • Supervise part-time conversions staff during graveyard and daytime conversions, including managing work assignments, conducting training, performance management, etc.
  • Assist in hiring, including conducting interviews of part-time conversions employees
  • Provide forklift training to new employees and recertification training for forklift operators
  • Schedule contract labour when necessary
  • Proactively research improvements to conversion techniques and procedures with the goal of improving building presentation while decreasing conversion times and costs and/or improving efficiencies
  • Ensure staff are trained in safe work practices and customer service and always perform work with safety and customer service as key priorities
  • Assist in developing and maintaining proper storage of all conversions equipment
  • Ensure that all conversion equipment is maintained in safe working order
  • Issue and collect tools and equipment while minimizing property losses
REQUIRED Experience And Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar position, with an emphasis on supervising in a unionized environment being an asset
  • A proven track record of motivating and engaging staff
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
  • A natural ability to relate to all levels of staff, guests, promoters and clients
  • Self-starter, with proven initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Forklift certification and a working knowledge of power tools
  • Ability to work evenings, overnight, and weekends as required
