A leading facilities management company in Mississauga is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to oversee food service operations. The role requires 2-4 years of supervisory experience in the food service sector, along with knowledge of food safety and a commitment to customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and compliance knowledge for working in a unionized environment. The position is hands-on with a focus on staff training and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in the food service sector, including supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of working in a Unionized environment and compliance with the Union CBA.
  • Working knowledge of English is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation and supervisors of the area.
  • Monitor cash handling procedures.
  • Handle HR issues including vacation requests.
  • Assist with payroll and ensure compliance with HR policies.
  • Recruit staff and oversee staff training.
  • Monitor staff performance and set work schedules.
  • Ensure adherence to Food Safety and Physical safety rules.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Location Manager, the Assistant Manager oversees the operation and supervisors of the area.

  • Perform component opening and closing.
  • Monitor cash handling procedures.
  • Handle HR issues such as vacation requests, any other administrative HR functions and ensure compliance to HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist with payroll.
  • Enforce adherence to Dana Hospitality policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook for their location.
  • Recruit staff and oversee staff training.
  • Set staff work schedules (front of house and back of house) and monitor staff performance.
  • Ensure adherence to all Food Safety and Physical safety rules and policies.
  • Resolve customer complaints in a timely manner. Keep Manager informed.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed at all times.
  • Complies with marketing programs.
  • Oversee cleaning schedule and procedures.
  • Control inventory, monitor revenues.
  • May be involved with menu planning for events and themed promotions.
  • May perform other duties as required by management.
  • Ensure operational efficiencies and productivity goals are outlined and realized.
  • Service the client by ensuring the highest quality facilities and food services are provided to clients and student residents.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellent customer satisfaction; in-keeping with established location goals.
Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Completion of a college or other program related to hospitality or food and beverage management is required.
  • 2-4 years\' experience in the food service sector including supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ADP payroll systems
  • Food Safety Training and First Aid required
  • Working knowledge of English
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Understanding of working in a Unionized environment and compliance with the Union CBA
Physical Requirements
  • On the floor, standing, being hands on
  • Certifications as required to comply with local Health codes.
  • Knowledge of basic sanitation requirements and food handling safety standards
  • Ability to lift (10 kg), pull & push carts
  • Must be available evenings and weekends
