Job summary

Martinrea International in Vaughan, Ontario, a leading automotive manufacturing group, seeks a senior operations leader to oversee two plants and drive lean improvements, safety, and cost control.   • Strong communicator with both written and oral skills.
  • Minimum 5–10 years in the automotive industry; 5–7 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience in a manufacturing facility with strong technical and good financial fundamentals.
  • Computer proficiency and familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the plant and reporting to the General Manager.
  • Oversee two plants totaling about 155 employees.
  • Manage line stops, safety violations/accidents and chronic defects.
  • Review budgets, forecasts, capital expenditures and headcount.
  • Strengthen competitive position to enable growth with new business; review quotes.
  • Develop business plans to meet established goals and objectives.
  • Develop policies and procedures and protect company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and HR policies; participate in audits.
  • Lead lean manufacturing initiatives and drive cost reduction, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide training, coaching and discipline to maintain high performance.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the day to day operation of the plant, as it pertains to the divisional Organization Chart;
  • Report directly to the General Manager and provide a support role in a learning environment.
  • Oversee two plants of approximately 155 employees combined
  • Must oversee line stops, safety violations/accidents and chronic defects.
  • Participate in the reviewing process of the following items;
  • Development of budgets and controlling costs; review weekly forecasts, capital expenditures, headcount
  • Strengthen the competitive position of the plant to enable growth through new business; review quotes and presentation to customers
  • Development of business plans aimed at achieving established goals and objectives
  • Development of policies and procedures
  • Protect assets of the company
  • Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, and Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Participate in internal quality audits to determine the effectiveness of the quality and environmental systems
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, the Employment Standards Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)).
  • Creates and secures a safe and secure work environment
  • Manages policy deployment in the areas of Lean Manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures.

  • Support and fill in as required with shop floor activities should emergency arise

  • 20% office, 80% plant floor (PPE required)
