Assistant General Manager – Luxury Hospitality – Greater Vancouver, BC

Do you love working in a picturesque West Coast setting? Do you have a background dealing with Luxury Hotel operations? Nick Kanaan of Lock Search Group is proud to partner with a world‑class fishing lodge in Haida Gwaii in the search for an experienced and highly motivated Assistant General Manager. Our client owns and operates a luxury fishing lodge, offering unmatched saltwater fishing experiences paired with five‑star hospitality in one of British Columbia’s most breathtaking coastal environments. This is a year‑round, full‑time position that includes seasonal relocation to Haida Gwaii from late April through September. During the off‑season the role reports to the Greater Vancouver office. The Assistant General Manager will play a key leadership role in ensuring seamless lodge operations and exceptional guest experiences. Working closely with the leadership team, this individual will uphold the highest standards of hospitality, staff leadership, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Out of Season (September – April) – Richmond, BC Office

  • Gain a strong understanding of office operations, including booking systems, guest information workflows, and room/boat inventory processes
  • Support hiring and onboarding for seasonal lodge positions (dining room, front‑of‑house, bar/beverage, etc.)
  • Assist in preparing and updating SOPs for guest services, lodge, and marine functions
  • Participate in training planning and HR coordination, including basic medical protocol awareness and employment standards
  • Contribute to pre‑season planning, inventory management, and procurement

In‑season (May – September) – Haida Gwaii

  • Oversee day‑to‑day lodge operations in collaboration with the General Manager, ensuring a world‑class guest experience
  • Lead, coach, and schedule hotel staff; ensure clarity of roles and adherence to standard operating procedures
  • Maintain a positive, professional lodge environment; manage guest relations with discretion and timely follow‑up
  • Assist with lodge communications such as daily manifest postings, event updates, and guest information boards
  • Manage hotel operations including dining, housekeeping, guest services, and beverage programs
  • Manage lodge ambiance, music, and playlists to enhance the overall guest experience
  • Provide polished guest announcements and presentations, including special events and guest chef introductions
  • Oversee inventory for bar, wine cellar, linens, dining ware, and amenities, ensuring cost‑effective procurement
Qualifications
  • Proven leadership experience in premium hospitality or resort management, ideally in a luxury remote environment
  • Successful history of operating in and leading teams through a demanding, fast‑paced environment
  • Deep understanding of planning and delivering exceptional guest experiences consistent with luxury standards
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and POS systems (store and restaurant)
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and detail‑oriented skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities with a passion for guest service
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and cultivate a professional, positive culture
  • Familiarity with HR processes including onboarding, training, and employee relations
  • Adaptable, solutions‑oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in a dynamic seasonal workplace
