Job summary

Farm Boy is seeking a Department Supervisor to support the Department Manager in delivering exceptional customer service and operational excellence across our Ontario stores.

You'll coach and engage teammates, oversee inventory, scheduling, and payroll tasks, ensure safe, clean conditions, and participate in training while supporting a fast-paced, high‑performing department. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is expected.

Qualifications

• Completion of a post-secondary program with emphasis in business.
• Minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in retail.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills with professional communication.
• Comfort learning and using computer software programs; experience with various systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver warm, confident customer service reflecting Farm Boy's standards.
• Collaborate with the Department Manager to execute departmental strategies and goals.
• Coach and develop team through training, motivation, and feedback.
• Lead regular team huddles to share goals and knowledge.
• Oversee daily operations: merchandising, staffing, and department cleanliness.
• Provide office/admin support: inventory, ordering, invoicing, scheduling, payroll.
• Ensure compliance with Safe Food Handling and Health & Safety policies.
• Support store success with other related duties as required.

• Work closely with the Department Manager to execute departmental strategies and achieve stated goals and performance objectives.
• Support team development through training, coaching, motivation, and recognition while maintaining a high level of trust, confidentiality, and professionalism.
• Lead regular team huddles to share goals, recognize achievements, exchange product knowledge, and provide meaningful feedback to build engagement and connection.
• Support daily operations by ensuring outstanding customer service, accurate merchandising and rotation, adequate staffing coverage, and consistent department cleanliness.
• Provide office and administrative support, including inventory management, ordering, invoicing, schedule maintenance, and payroll functions.
• Promote compliance with all Safe Food Handling and Health & Safety policies, procedures, and provincial regulations to maintain a safe and high‑quality shopping environment.
• Contribute to store success by assisting with other related duties as required.

Qualifications

What you bring to the table.

• A genuine passion for delivering engaging and exceptional customer service.
• Completion of a post‑secondary program with an emphasis in business, plus a minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• The ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment by effectively managing competing priorities while maintaining a high level of performance.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills supported by a clear, professional communication style.
• Comfort learning and using manual and automated systems, with prior experience working with a variety of computer software programs.
• Thrive in a hands‑on setting that involves extended periods of standing, heavy lifting, and work that may be performed in cooler, freezer, and outdoor conditions.
• Flexibility to work a dynamic schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Fluency in English; French language skills considered an asset.
