Farm Boy is seeking a hands-on Department Supervisor to work closely with the Department Manager and lead a high-performing team in Oakville, Ontario. The role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, operational excellence, and staff development.

You will coach team members, manage priorities, and ensure compliance with safety and food-handling policies while maintaining a welcoming shopping environment.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary program with emphasis in business.
• Minimum 1 year of supervisory/management experience.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Comfort with learning and using computer software.

Responsibilities

• Deliver warm, confident, and engaging customer service reflecting Farm Boy's standards.
• Collaborate with the Department Manager to execute departmental strategies and achieve goals.
• Lead regular team huddles to share goals, recognize achievements, and provide feedback.
• Support daily operations including merchandising, staffing, and cleanliness.
• Provide office/admin support: inventory, ordering, invoicing, scheduling, payroll.
• Promote compliance with Safe Food Handling and Health & Safety policies.

• Support team development through training, coaching, motivation, and recognition while maintaining a high level of trust, confidentiality, and professionalism.
• Lead regular team huddles to share goals, recognize achievements, exchange product knowledge, and provide meaningful feedback to build engagement and connection.
• Support daily operations by ensuring outstanding customer service, accurate merchandising and rotation, adequate staffing coverage, and consistent department cleanliness.
• Provide office and administrative support, including inventory management, ordering, invoicing, schedule maintenance, and payroll functions.
• Promote compliance with all Safe Food Handling and Health & Safety policies, procedures, and provincial regulations to maintain a safe and high-quality shopping environment.
• Contribute to store success by assisting with other related duties as required.

• Completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in business, plus a minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills supported by a clear, professional communication style.
• Comfort learning and using manual and automated systems, with prior experience working with a variety of computer software programs.
• Thrive in a hands-on setting that involves extended periods of standing, heavy lifting, and work that may be performed in cooler, freezer, and outdoor conditions.
• Flexibility to work a dynamic schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Fluency in English; French language skills considered an asset.
