Job summary

University of Ottawa is seeking a Research Assistant (CUPE) for the Fall 2026 semester at Main Campus. The role includes research support, data management, text formatting, and coordinating knowledge mobilization activities.

Work dates run from September 1 to December 18, 2026, with a total of 130 hours and two pay scales depending on student status. Undergraduate students are paid at the lower rate and graduate students at the higher rate, with retro pay planned after collective agreement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social sciences, history, philosophy or geography (preferred)
• Ability to read, write and speak English and French at university level
• Ability to work with software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, NVivo

Responsibilities

• Support research projects by working with bibliographic data sets
• Prepare and edit texts for publication
• Update bibliographic databases and assist with knowledge mobilization events

Hourly Rate: AE-RA-Tuteur / TA-RA-Tutor : $32.84 ou/or $51.75 (Sept. 2025 - Aug. 2026)
The academic year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31.
Undergraduate students will be paid at the lower rate; while graduate students will be paid at the higher rate.
These rates do not included vacation pay nor statutory pay.
These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.

Qualifications:

• Étudiant (e) diplômé en sciences sociales, en histoire, en philosophie ou en géographie (de préférence)
• Capacité d'écrire, de lire et parler en anglais et en français (niveau universitaire)
• Capacité de travailler avec différents logiciels, dont Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Nvivo
