L’Arche Calgary is seeking an Assistant Day Program Leader to support day-to-day coordination of the Day Program and assist with leadership responsibilities. The role combines direct support with operational duties to ensure safe, respectful, and person-centred care for individuals with developmental disabilities.

You will work closely with the Day Program Leader, coordinate activities, transportation, medication practices and program resources while supporting Program Assistants to deliver

Qualifications

  • Experience in disability services or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with L’Arche values and person-centered approaches an asset.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • NVCI training, or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence preferred.
  • Satisfactory Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Search.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily program operations and activities per the calendar.
  • Support ISPs and Behaviour Support Plans for individuals.
  • Manage transportation bookings and same-day changes as needed.
  • Maintain documentation, logs, and program records accurately.
  • Monitor health, safety, and risk-management practices.
  • Provide operational leadership coverage when required.

We are currently seeking anAssistant Day Program Leader to join our Day Program team. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who has experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and is interested in taking on additional coordination and leadership responsibilities.

About the Role

TheAssistant Day Program Leader works closely with the Day Program Leader to support the effective day-to-day coordination and operation of the Day Program.

This is a hands-on role that combines direct support with operational responsibilities, including coordinating daily activities and schedules, transportation, medication practices, program resources, individual funds, vehicles, and site organization.

The Assistant Day Program Leader also supports Program Assistants in providing high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with developmental disabilities while helping ensure the program operates safely, smoothly, and in accordance with L’Arche Calgary's values, policies, and procedures.

The position is accountable to theDay Program Leader.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Program Operations

  • Support the coordination and implementation of scheduled activities based on the program calendar and Activity Planners.
  • Ensure required supplies, materials, and equipment are available for daily programming.
  • Delegate activities and support tasks to Program Assistants as needed.
  • Help ensure the smooth day-to-day flow of the program.

Individualized Support

  • Implement and contribute to Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Support individuals in working toward personal goals, skill development, community participation, and meaningful daily activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, log notes, and program records.
  • Monitor and report changes in an individual's health, behaviour, or circumstances.

Transportation and Scheduling

  • Review CTA transportation bookings and ensure daily transportation arrangements are accurate.
  • Coordinate same-day transportation changes when required.
  • Communicate schedule and transportation changes promptly to appropriate team members.

Medication and Health Support

  • Monitor daily medication administration practices and support compliance with established medication protocols.
  • Ensure concerns related to medication or health supports are communicated to the Day Program Leader.

Team Coordination

  • Communicate daily updates, schedule changes, and other important information to the team.
  • Support Program Assistants with day-to-day operational needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Day Program Leader to coordinate staff responsibilities and address operational issues.
  • Provide operational leadership coverage when required.

Financial and Resource Management

  • Manage individual monthly funds as delegated.
  • Collect and reconcile receipts and maintain accurate financial documentation.
  • Monitor program supplies and support responsible use of program resources and budgets.

Vehicles and Program Site

  • Monitor program vehicle use and coordinate regular cleaning, maintenance, and required inspections.
  • Support the cleanliness, organization, and overall upkeep of the Day Program site.
  • Ensure cleaning checklists are completed and necessary supplies are maintained.

Health, Safety and Compliance

  • Help maintain a safe, clean, welcoming, and organized program environment.
  • Support compliance with organizational health and safety procedures and policies.
  • Monitor Alberta Health and food-safety requirements.
  • Identify and report hazards, maintenance concerns, and other potential risks.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience working in disability services, community support, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with L’Arche values and person-centred approaches is an asset.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills, including familiarity with programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training, or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence preferred.
  • A satisfactory Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening, is required.
