Assistant Client Services CoordinatorWestern DistrictLocation : Bridgewater, Nova ScotiaType of Employment : Full Time, Term (up to 1 year)Union Status : NSGEU Local 25Competition # WES 25030Closing Date : October 21, 2025The OpportunityReporting to the Supervisor, Client Services, the Assistant Client Services Coordinator is responsible for recommending the initial and on-going eligibility and placement of individuals who apply for subsidized housing. This is accomplished by assessing applicants in accordance with the Provincial Housing Operations Manual. The incumbent is directly accountable for ensuring that applicants are assessed and selected on a fair, non-judgmental basis, and that decision-making and documentation follows established policies.This position will also assist the Supervisor, Client Services with a variety of duties including inspections, home visits, fire safety and emergency measures planning.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all applicants meet the established eligibility criteria set by the Provincial Housing Operations Manual, assess applications for eligibility and make recommendations for placement.
  • Process applications / transfers based on department targets, including data entry, reviewing, and updating files, allocating units and documentation.
  • Carry out home visits for the purpose of completing application, if required.
  • Assist in the rental arrears collection process by working with the collections officer and property manager and to conduct home visits, telephone calls as required.
  • Assess priority access files immediately to determine high-risk living situations, liaise with community officials, Health / Fire and Police to obtain documents for Tenant Selection Committee and with Manager or designate.
  • Conduct move out, annual and other unit inspections of properties / buildings.
  • As part of the inspection process, referral or building visit, identify social and health issues of population base of clients.
Qualifications
  • Must HaveDiploma in Business Administration or a two-year diploma in a related field, plus four years' related experience.
  • Competency in desktop software, including Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of relevant acts and legislation that may apply to applicants and tenants, i.e., Residential Tenancies Act.
  • Accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail are required to coordinate the application process and respond to both the client and department needs.
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment, build appropriate rapport, build constructive and effective relationships, use diplomacy and tact to diffuse high tension situations comfortably.
  • Nice to HaveCurrent Emergency First Aid and WHMIS certifications.
  • Competency in Yardi Property Management software.
  • Knowledge of housing and social service programs offered in the area.
  • The Fine PrintAn equivalent combination of training, education and experience may be considered.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle. Regular travel is required within the assigned area, which includes communities from New Ross and Chester through to Clarks Harbour.

Other Information

Salary: $27.50 - $33.73 hourly (PR 06)

Schedule: 35-hour work week
