Qualifications

Responsibilities

Position Summary: Are you ready to be the MVP of our team? Join us as an Assistant Athletic Therapist and make a game-changing impact!
Reporting directly to the Head Athletic Therapist, you’ll be the go‑to expert for providing top‑notch treatment to University of Regina Athletics athletes. You’ll need to be an expert on clinic policies and procedures, all while keeping it confidential with our University of Regina Exercise, Athletics, & Workplace Health Services Student Volunteer Confidentiality and Privacy Pledge. Professionalism is our playbook, so bring your A‑game every time!

What You’ll Do:
  • Complete clinical assessments and treatments within the scope of an AT, and document appropriately
  • Provide emergency coverage for Cougar/Rams home games and practices as required. This may include multiple evenings and weekends throughout the athletic season (August‑March)
  • Daily communication with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, student trainers, etc. to report new injuries or changes in injury status
  • Collaborate with other members of the Sports Medicine Team (ATs, doctors, chiros, exercise therapists) to ensure quality health care delivery for athletes and patients
  • Assist with the student trainer program. This includes helping with student trainer education sessions and supervision/mentoring of students
  • Collection and review of athlete medicals
  • Assist in the delivery and implementation of the current concussion protocol

Position Requirements

What You’ll Bring to this Position:

  • Certified Athletic Therapist that has maintained status with both the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association and the Saskatchewan Athletic Therapists Association
  • Current Sports First Responder + BLS Certification
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA - CSCS) preferred

Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:

  • Must be able to clearly communicate with a variety of stakeholders (student athlete, physicians, coaches, etc.) regarding the status of the injury to a student athlete and have all parties understand the situation/plan.
  • Training in Vestibular therapy will be considered an asset
  • Flexible schedule as most tasks require the ability to work non‑traditional hours, often for extended periods of time outside the course of a typical working day
  • Demonstrate a passion for Athletic Therapy
  • Value continuing education and advancement of clinical skills and services
Physical Demands

Pay Grade: APT 4
Salary Range: $66,740 - $90,060 annually
Status: Term
Work Hours: Flexible work hours and travel are required. Hours may be assigned throughout University standard hours of operation (6:00 am -11:00 pm), as the competitive sport schedule requires.
Duration (if Term/Temporary): November 2025-December 31, 2026 with possibility of extension or becoming permanent
