Assets & Engineering Supervisor
Position Summary

The Assets & Engineering Supervisor assists in managing Lakeland Power’s Engineering team, GIS systems, as well as asset management programs, policies, and procedures. The successful applicant will be responsible for distribution system design, distribution asset management standards, asset condition assessments, environmental disposal of end-of-life assets, SCADA systems, GIS, Joint Use, Line Loss studies, and capital planning based on Lakeland Power’s 5-year plan. The incumbent will assist in planning the future infrastructure requirements based on asset condition to support the electricity requirements of Lakeland Power’s serviced communities. As a member of supervisor team, the Assets & Engineering Supervisor contributes to the achievement of organizational goals, strategies and financial and business plans, to ensure the effective planning and delivery of programs and services to achieve the corporate mandate.

Responsibilities Include
  • Provide direction and assistance to the Operations, Finance, Business Process, and Distribution Engineering teams
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Asset Condition Assessment and its policies and procedures
  • Lead and maintain Asset Management, GIS and SCADA systems
  • Ensure designs for new installations, subdivisions, Offers to Connect, rebuilds, upgrades and relocation of the distribution system meet LPDL’s standards, Ontario Regulation 22/04, OEB and ESA regulations, and other applicable codes, standards, and regulations, in a timely, efficient, and fiscally responsible manner.
  • Lead, manage all aspects of asset inspections and maintain up-to-date asset inspection forms
  • Administer and implement Joint Use agreements with all third-party attachers.
  • Prepare briefing documents and attend meetings to promote capital plans, strategies, initiatives, environmental objectives, and projects
  • Demonstrate safety leadership and adhere to all aspects of the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental programs
  • Ensure efficient and cost-effective engineering programs and services that align with corporate business goals and objectives
  • Provide support to the development of non-regulated services/businesses as required
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
  • Education in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Two+ years of Engineering work experience including at least two years with supervisory or project management responsibilities in a utility or comparable industry environment
  • Complete knowledge and superior working experience with electrical power distribution systems is required
  • Exemplary understanding of industry and regulatory standards is required
  • Requires sensitivity to the legal, safety, regulatory and environmental concerns of the organization
  • Knowledge of ESA regulations, Electrical Code and Occupational Health and Safety rules is required
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of programs, Auto-CAD, ArcGIS and SCADA Systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and communication skills to provide direction and guidance other Lakeland Power team members
  • Focused on excellence with an emphasis on quality, continuous improvement, learning and safety
  • Ability to build consensus and motivate staff across the organization
  • Well-developed analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
