Job summary

RTX is seeking an Assembly Technician for the Oakville, Ontario site. You will report to the Assembly Supervisor on the weekday night shift, assembling and testing landing gear components and subassemblies to required drawings.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and prior landing gear assembly experience. Knowledge of hydraulic/electrical systems and ability to read blueprints are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience plus college/trade program
  • Typically 3+ years of landing gear assembly experience in manufacturing/aerospace
  • Understanding of hydraulic and electrical control systems and test equipment
  • Ability to read and follow assembly instructions and blueprints
  • Experience using overhead cranes Safely
  • Commitment to safety procedures and policies

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test landing gear shock struts and components per drawings and test procedures
  • Perform replacement/repair/retro-fit of MLG, NLG, linkages, actuators and LRUs per process sheets and instructions
  • Conduct electrical/hydraulic functional tests per engineering instructions and procedures
  • Maintain safe, team-oriented work environment and participate in TPM, LEAN, 5S and FOD prevention
  • Support continuous improvement and standard work development in the cell
  • Assist with OSV and other duties as assigned

Collins Aerospace is looking to hire Assembly Technician who will be reporting to the Assembly Supervisor on the weekday night shift. As Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for assembling and testing of landing gear and or landing gear components. Work Location: Oakville Facility, Ontario – Canada Shift Hours – Weekday Night Shift (Monday-Thursday) 8:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.

What You Will Do
  • Responsible for assembling and testing of landing gear shock struts and components per Collins drawing and Acceptance Test Procedure requirements
  • Perform replacement / repair / retro-fit of MLG, NLG, Linkages, Actuators and LRU’s per Assembly Process Sheets, Engineering Instructions and drawing requirements
  • Perform electrical / hydraulic functional tests per Engineering Instruction and Acceptance Test Procedures
  • Work in a safe team-oriented environment and participate as an active member of the implementation and execution of TPM, LEAN, 5S, and FOD prevention principles
  • Support and promote continuous improvement, 5S activities and Standard Work Development in the cell.
  • Support quality initiatives by performing operator-self-verification (OSV)
  • Perform other duties as assigned (e.g. sub-assemblies, sealing, bushing installation, calibration and shelf life activities)
Qualifications
  • We Require Typically; High school diploma, or equivalent work experience plus recognized and accredited college/trade program
  • Previous Landing Gear Assembly experience or 3 or more years of assembly experience in a manufacturing/aerospace environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of hydraulic & electrical control systems and using test equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to follow assembly instructions and/or blueprints
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and use an overhead crane in a safe manner
  • Demonstrated ability to follow strict safety practices and procedures.
  • The selected candidate has to be eligible to work in Canada; successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP Qualifications
We Prefer
  • Aircraft maintenance technician (AMT) certification would be an asset

The salary range for this role is 74,068 CAD – 87,144 CAD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
