Job summary

Canalta Group of Companies in Red Deer, Alberta, is hiring an Assembly Technician for our shop. This entry-level role offers hands-on training and a path to advanced assembly and quality positions.

You will use hand and power tools, read mechanical drawings, assemble and fit components, and help maintain a clean, safe workspace. Valid Class 5 license preferred; forklift experience is a plus.

  • Read and follow basic mechanical drawings and work instructions.
  • Use hand and power tools safely to build and service parts.
  • Identify issues with non-conforming parts and route for rework or scrap.

  • Use hand and power tools such as grinders or torque wrenches safely to build and service parts.
  • Read and follow basic mechanical drawings and work instructions to understand dimensions, parts and assembly steps.
  • Assemble, fit, and disassemble mechanical fittings and components to specified standards.
  • Clean, prep, and grind fittings to ensure quality finishes.
  • Handle non-conforming product properly by identifying issues, tagging and segregating parts, and routing for rework or scrap according to procedure.
  • Support shop housekeeping and material handling to keep workspace organized and safe.

Job description

The Canalta Group of Companies is a privately held, Canadian-owned company focusing on the manufacturing and service of industrial control and measurement equipment, specifically targeting the gas industry, and supplying customers internationally. We are hiring an Assembly Technician at our head office in Red Deer, Alberta. This is an entry-level, hands-on role in a shop environment. You will receive training on our safety procedures and build practical skills that can grow into advanced assembly and quality roles.

What You Will Do
  • Use hand and power tools such as grinders or torque wrenches safely to build and service parts
  • Read and follow basic mechanical drawings and work instructions to understand dimensions, parts and assembly steps
  • Assemble, fit, and disassemble mechanical fittings and components to specified standards
  • Clean, prep, and grind fittings to ensure quality finishes
  • Handle non-conforming product properly by identifying issues, tagging and segregating parts, and routing for rework or scrap according to procedure.
  • Support shop housekeeping and material handling to keep workspace organized and safe.
What You Need
  • Able to safely lift up to 50 lb. using proper technique and aids when required.
  • Comfortable standing and working at a station for extended periods.
  • Consistently produce quality work at a steady pace meeting daily productivity and quality targets.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Forklift and/or overhead crane experience is an asset
