Job summary

The Corporation of the City of Sarnia is seeking an experienced arena maintenance staff member to join the Recreation and Parkland Planning Services team. This part-time temporary role supports arena cleaning, waste management, event setup, and ice maintenance tasks on a seasonal basis.

Candidates should be safety‑conscious, able to work with minimal supervision, and committed to teamwork. Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work for the duration of the season.
• Willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
• Safety footwear (CSA) will be provided and used on site.

Responsibilities

• Clean arena stands and concourse areas.
• Empty waste and recycling in appropriate locations.
• Assist with setup and takedown of special events.
• Support ice maintenance efforts, including relocating nets.

The Role

As a committed and reliable team member, you will be part of a team responsible for a range of maintenance and cleaning duties, including cleaning arena stands and concourse areas, emptying and disposing of waste and recycling in the appropriate locations, and helping with the setup and take down of special events. Part of your role will include supporting ice maintenance efforts, including relocating the nets.

The role involves physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods, and requires a high level of attentiveness to maintain safety for yourself and others.

Qualifications

• Ability to work for the duration of the season, working various shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays, as required.
• Shifts may start as early as 5:30 a.m. or end as late as 1:00 a.m.
• Personal safety shoes or boots with the CSA triangle (all other personal protective equipment will be provided)
