Job summary

The Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) seeks a Marine Policy Advisor to advance IRC’s marine priorities in the Beaufort Sea and Arctic Ocean, coordinating with territorial and federal governments and Indigenous partners.

You will develop policies, lead projects, prepare funding proposals, and represent IRC on committees, travel within ISR and beyond as needed.

This role is based in Inuvik with relocation support and requires collaboration with communities and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience conceptualizing and creating policies.
• Experience implementing policies.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations.
• Familiarity with marine activities in ISR.
• Familiarity with the ocean and waterways in ISR.
• Experience conducting data analyses and reporting.
• Experience leading or participating in Indigenous Knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Advance IRC marine policies and implementations.
• Act as liaison between Inuvialuit and territorial/federal governments.
• Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with stakeholders.
• Prepare speaking points and responses on marine issues.
• Lead implementation plans and draft funding proposals for programs.
• Collaborate on special projects with the Marine Program Coordinator.
