Job summary

The Canadian Museum of Nature in Gatineau, QC seeks an Archival Technician to arrange and describe Paleobiology archives and publish finding aids to support research.

Under the supervision of the Archivist, the role involves processing materials, creating RAD-compliant records in Excel and AtoM, and digitizing holdings for the institutional repository, with collaboration across staff and researchers.

Qualifications

• Completion of post-secondary education in Archival or Library Science or related discipline.
• Minimum 1 year of recent archival work experience.
• Experience with RAD (Rules for Archival Description).
• Experience with digitization and using archival systems (AtoM or Archivera).

Responsibilities

• Process archival materials (rehousing, filing and labeling).
• Review and structure fonds file levels for the archival series.
• Create RAD-compliant catalogue records using Microsoft Excel and AtoM.
• Digitize and integrate digitized materials into the institutional digital repository.
• Collaborate with researchers, staff, and volunteers in an interdisciplinary environment.
