OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Architect student for a paid summer Co-Op for Summer 2026 at our Ottawa, Ontario office. Imagine working on rewarding client projects and being exposed to unparalleled training and development opportunities! Must have graduation date after August 2026 to be eligible.

The summer Co-Op has a commitment of approximately mid-May through August 2026.

We will be accepting resumes for this opportunity through February 20, 2026. Resumes will be reviewed as they are received followed by interviews. Offers will be extended in the Spring. Timeframe subject to change.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The summer Co-Op will provide the Architecture student an opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of architecture. The individual will be exposed to all aspects of the project design and have the chance to work on unique and interesting projects. This individual will work in a multi-discipline design studio working under the supervision of the Project Architect. The position requires the ability to receive specific and detailed instructions regarding architectural tasks. Looking for an individual who takes the initiative to either work out or research a work effort and understands his/her capabilities and when to seek help from mentors. The position requires the collaboration with other drafters/designers, the ability to follow directions and schedules, work independently, possess good written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to problem solve. Must be team oriented, self-starting and focused on producing good design in a most efficient manner and meets expectations for attendance and punctuality.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have graduation date after August 2026 to be eligible.
  • Must be pursuing an Architecture degree from a CACB accredited program or a current graduate student pursuing a Master’s degree in Architecture.
  • Must include a portfolio with application.
  • Knowledge of Revit.
  • Client projects for this position require Canadian Citizenship.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Basic skills in AutoCAD, Sketch-up, and 3D MAX.
  • Knowledge in Adobe Photoshop and graphic experience.
  • Local candidates are strongly preferred.
