Job summary

Bartlett Tree Experts is seeking an Arborist Climber to join our Nanaimo team. The role focuses on safe climbing, pruning, and tree care with opportunities for advancement within a long-established, research-driven company.

The position offers competitive pay ($36.60–$38.00/hr) and full-time hours, located at 6973 Doumont Road, Nanaimo, BC. English proficiency required; travel may be involved outside Nanaimo as needed.

Qualifications

1 year of climbing experience with approved climbing system and bucket operation.
Valid driver’s license and clean MVR.
Secondary school required.
Formal training in chainsaw maintenance and aerial cutting is required.
Degree or Diploma in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science or related field preferred but not required.
Proficient in English.

Responsibilities

Perform ground, climbing, and aerial lift duties as directed by crew leader.
Maintain high safety standards and proper climbing techniques.
Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking as required.
Follow safety rules and participate in safety training sessions.
Maintain assigned company gear and equipment.
Demonstrate strong communication with crew members and crew leader.
Carry out other duties as assigned by the Crew Leader or supervisor.

We are seeking experienced Arborist Climbers who have a passion for preserving and caring for trees.

Pay Rate: $36.60/hr - $38.00/hr based on experience

Job type: Full time, permanent, 40 hours per week

Job Location: 6973 Doumont Road, Nanaimo, BC V9T 5P9. May be required to travel outside of Nanaimo as part of the role.

Responsibilities

Perform all required ground, climbing, and aerial lift duties in support of specific job assignments, as directed by crew leader
Demonstrate high safety standards, sound tree risk assessment skills, equipment inspection skills, proper application of approved knots, proper climbing techniques and procedures, proper pruning and small removal skills, and proper rigging skills
Assist with driving, backing, dumping and parking duties as required
Learn, understand, and adhere to all safety rules and company safety policies and participate in safety training sessions
Maintain assigned company gear and equipment
Demonstrate strong communication skills with crew members and crew leader
Responsible for carrying out other duties as assigned by the Crew Leader or designated supervisor, Arborist Representative, or Local Manager

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of experience climbing with arborist approved climbing system and bucket operation in the tree care industry.
Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record (MVR).
Secondary school required
Formal training or qualifications in chainsaw maintenance and cutting, aerial cutting using chainsaw and felling and processing trees required
Degree or Diploma in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field is preferred but not required.
Proficient in English language
