The Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited is seeking a Climbing Arborist in Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ontario.

You will be in the field and up in the canopy, performing hands-on tree and vegetation management while engaging with the public to ensure quality and timeliness. We offer full-time, year-round employment with pay between $21-$27 per hour, ongoing training and career advancement, an excellent benefits package, RRSP/TFSA, and stock purchase after six months of service.

Qualifications

• Safety training for climbing and canopy work.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and operate field equipment.
• Valid driver’s license and 5-ton vehicle licensing is a plus; Airbrake endorsement is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood in tree canopies.
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws and lifts.
• Assist the crew in job site setup and cleanup.
• Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.

Position Overview

As a Climbing Arborist with Davey Tree; you will be in the field and up in the canopy most of your day with a hands-on approach to tree and vegetation management. You will deal directly with the public and will draw on your expert knowledge and experience to ensure the job is done right and on time.

Job Duties

• Pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood in the canopy of the trees at various heights.
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Properly maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Assist the trimmers and foreperson in job site setup, debris removal and cleanup.
• Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Understanding and implementation of the process of safely ascending tree canopies at all heights.
• Minimum 1 year of climbing experience.
• Certified Arborist or willingness to work towards.
• Strong tree, knot and shrub identification skills.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Valid provincial driver’s license. Licensed to drive a 5-ton vehicle and Airbrake endorsement considered an asset.
• Preferred background in Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping.
