Job description

Aquatic Facility Manager

\"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.\" - Winston Churchill

At Making Waves Swim School, that idea isn't a poster on the wall - it's the job. Every day, our team gives kids one of the most essential life skills there is, and gives our staff the mentorship, guidance, and belief they need to become remarkable people. We're looking for a leader who wants to do both.

This isn't a behind-the-scenes management role. You don't own the manager's office - you own the entire facility, pool deck included.

You'll spend your days delivering a remarkable client experience yourself - on the pool deck, walking the lobby, coaching your team, engaging with families, high-fiving kids, and handing out compliments every chance you get. You get what you give.

And more than that, you'll be shaping lives. You'll grow the humans on your team into confident, capable leaders - and they'll pass that same confidence on to every swimmer, turning a life-saving skill into a lifelong one.

Why This Role Is Different

Making Waves is one of the largest privately owned swim schools in Canada, and we have big plans to grow into new markets. We’re building something that hasn't been done here before - and we’re doing it as a small, tight‑knit team that moves fast and cares deeply.

That means this is a rare opportunity. You won't be dropped into a box and told to stay in it. You'll have real input on how we grow, how we improve, and how we scale. Your ideas will matter. Your fingerprints will be on what this company becomes.

We bring playoff energy to what we do - focused, all‑in, and determined to get better every single day. We’re not the biggest name in the league yet, but we’re building something that can be - and we want a leader who competes with heart to help us get there. Think 2026 New York Knicks or better yet…2019 Toronto Raptors. Invest in talent and take home the trophy.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Build and Develop a Strong Team

  • Recruit, coach, train, and develop staff leaders - from Coaches to Supervisors to future leaders

  • Build a culture where people feel supported, held accountable, challenged, and proud of the work they do

  • Pass on the lessons you’ve learned to help staff become the best versions of themselves

  • Handle staffing challenges with care, urgency, and professionalism

Lead Facility Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of a high-volume swim facility - every corner of it

  • Manage staffing, scheduling, coverage, and operational execution

  • Ensure strong service standards, smooth program delivery, and operational consistency

  • Be present and visible - on the deck, in the lobby, wherever families and staff need you

  • Maintain high standards for lesson quality through regular observations and audits

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and operational regulations

  • Oversee facility readiness, maintenance coordination, and risk management

Drive Business Performance & Growth

  • Support enrollment growth and help close registration gaps

  • Monitor retention and support re-registration efforts

  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and operational targets

  • Optimize program inventory, waitlists, scheduling, and capacity management

Deliver an Exceptional Customer Experience

  • Act as a visible and approachable leader families know and trust

  • Resolve escalated customer concerns with empathy and professionalism

  • Build relationships that turn families into lifelong members and advocates

  • Build community relationships with schools and local organizations

Lead Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, efficiency, and the family experience

  • Use reporting and operational insights to drive decisions

  • Solve problems proactively - before they become problems

What We're Looking For

Above all, we're looking for a leader who measures success by the growth of the team around them - someone who takes real pride in delivering consistent, high-quality service, and who is driven to win. If seeing the metrics move up and to the right lights a fire in you, keep reading.

  • 3-5 years of management experience overseeing 30+ staff members

  • Experience managing a high volume, service-based organization/facility

  • A proven track record of leading, coaching, and developing youth and multigenerational teams

  • Strong operational, scheduling, and organizational skills

  • The ability to juggle competing priorities calmly and confidently

  • Warm, clear communication and real relationship‑building ability

  • Comfort with CRM systems, task management tools, and Google Workspace

  • Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset

The Kind of Leader We Value

  • Hands‑on and people‑focused

  • Calm under pressure

  • Accountable and solutions‑oriented

  • Highly organized and operationally strong

  • Driven to win and passionate about service excellence

  • Collaborative, positive, and always looking to improve

Schedule & What You'll Get

  • Full‑time leadership position with real room to grow as we expand into new markets

  • Competitive pay and a values‑driven culture that has your back

  • A close‑knit team that brings energy, humor, and heart to work every day

  • Flexibility required, including evenings and weekends - because that’s when families and staff need us most

  • An active, on‑site, fast‑paced role where no two days are the same

Reports To: Director of Operations

Deadline to Apply: August 14th, 2026
