Job summary

The City of Brampton is seeking a Certified Aquafit Instructor to plan and deliver engaging water fitness classes at City Hall. You will ensure participant safety and provide excellent front-line service.

Candidates must hold current First Aid/CPR and water fitness certifications, be 16+ and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. A flexible, customer-focused approach is essential. Preference given to Brampton residents; interviews may be conducted via video conference.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 1 month.
• Valid CALA/WaterArt or Group Fitness Instructor certification or ability to obtain within 1 month.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and deliver high quality safe and engaging Aquafit classes for all levels of participants.
• Keep current with industry trends and new class formats.
• Maintain vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to emergencies.
• Provide top front line customer service including greeting and engaging with participants.
• Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (e.g. lesson plans, attendance, incident and accident reports).
• Maintain a safe and tidy program space with proper setup and storage of equipment.
• Report concerns, accidents and incidents to supervisor for follow-up and action.
• Understand and enforce department programs, policies and safety standards.
• Attend meetings/training as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Recreation Programmer/Recreation Coordinator, Instructors are responsible for planning, organizing and implementing a high quality program that is stimulating and enjoyable for all participants. Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of registered participants at all times.

Position Duties:

• Plan, organize and deliver high quality safe and engaging Aquafit classes for all levels ofparticipants
• Keep current with industry trends and new class formats
• Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation
• Provide a high level of front line customer service including greeting and engaging with participants
• Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (i.e. lesson plans, attendance, incident and accident reports, statistics and worksheets)
• Maintain a safe and tidy program space ensuring equipment is set-up and stored appropriately
• Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up and take appropriate action
• Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
• Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
• Attend meetings/training as required
• Performs other duties as assigned

Selection Criteria:

• Minimum 16 years of age
• Current Standard First Aid / CPR OR Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C and AED from an accredited organization, or the ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire
• One of the following certifications
  • CALA, WaterArt certification or equivalent from an accredited organization, or the ability to obtain within 1 month of hire
  • Current Group Fitness Instructor certification or equivalent from an accredited organization, or the ability to obtain within 1 month of hire
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills
