Overview

ENWIN Utilities Ltd., is currently accepting applications for the vacant position of Apprentice Site Maintenance (Hourly Rate $26.66 - $33.32).

Location: Windsor, ON. Reporting to the Supervisor, Fleet & Site, the successful applicant will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a variety of HVAC equipment and all other aspects of the building environment.

Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, and all other aspects of the building environment.
  • Monitor, coordinate and carry out requests from departments within the company on a daily basis.
  • Assist in planning and execution of significant capital projects (e.g., renovations, HVAC, controls, carpentry, fabrication).
  • Perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs and installations.
  • Brush and yard maintenance, minor construction including drywall, painting and carpentry.
  • Monthly maintenance on building emergency systems.
  • Coordinate and assist with supervision of contractors while providing services.
  • Assist with maintenance at all facilities and snow removal.
Hours

Hours of work will be 7:30 am – 3:30 pm.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
  • Successfully complete a Mechanical Aptitude Test.
  • Minimum one (1) year of similar or related experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and with a team.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Familiarity with Ontario Health and Safety Act and knowledge of EUSA practices.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience in the operation of construction equipment, lawn maintenance equipment, snow removal equipment and tool safety.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in high areas up to 45 feet.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate stationary and mobile equipment necessary in the execution of the tasks.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Good customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer equipment and programs (Excel, Word, Security Systems, Building Automation).
  • Class DZ driver's licence required.
Apprenticeship Details

The apprenticeship for the Apprentice Site Maintenance involves successful completion of a 4,000-hour apprenticeship program. This program is comprised of on-the-job training and completion of each level of the Site Maintenance Apprenticeship training program, including formal coursework as outlined in the apprentice training objectives related to general building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. Duties will become progressively greater with each phase of practical experience and training. Progression within the classification will depend on satisfactory performance on the job and successful completion of the Site Maintenance Apprenticeship Training objectives.
