Herc Rentals Inc. in Grande Prairie, AB is seeking a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Apprentice to support the branch's service needs in a safe, timely manner.

You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Herc fleet under supervision and gain hands-on experience with a wide range of equipment. Applicants must be a registered Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician apprentice (2nd–4th year preferred), show initiative, strong communication, and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

Must be a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician registered apprentice, preference to 2nd, 3rd or 4th year.
Demonstrates initiative and strong organizational skills.
Exceptional communication skills with a professional customer service attitude.
Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

Follow a consistent schedule of preventative maintenance on Herc owned fleet at your branch.
Operate and test equipment to meet Herc Rentals standards.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs under supervision.
Enter work orders and order parts via fleet management system.
Assist in reconditioning and replacing parts of heavy equipment.
Produce timely service reports and repair logs.

Job Purpose

The purpose of a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Apprentice is to utilize their mechanical expertise to support the needs of the branch in a professional, safe and timely manner. An individual in this position will work to keep all equipment in top running condition through an effective preventative maintenance program.

What you will do...

Follow a consistent schedule of performing preventative maintenance of all Herc owned fleet at your branch.
Operate and test equipment to ensure it passes Herc Rentals quality and efficiency standards.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all Herc fleet equipment and trucks under direct supervision.
Diagnose small tools and light rental equipment with assistance from senior mechanics.
Perform major repairs to maintain fleet equipment using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments under direct supervision.
Conduct oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services.
Enter work orders and complete part ordering via fleet management system.
Assist in reconditioning and replacing assorted parts of the heavy equipment.
Learn what is covered and not covered by warranties.
Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner.
Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs.
Follow all company’s filed procedures and protocols.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must be a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician registered apprentice, preference to 2nd, 3rd or 4th year.
Must be a team player with a coachable attitude, and strong work ethic.
Ability to work constructively under pressure.
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Demonstrates initiative and strong organizational skills.
Exceptional communication skills while maintaining a professional customer service focused attitude.
Valid driver’s license and recent abstract will be required
