Job summary

Pursuit is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at the Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park. You’ll ensure the mechanical fitness of motorcoaches, heavy equipment, and 21 Ice Explorers in a safety‑driven environment.

Based on-site with meals and accommodations, you’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment while supporting a collaborative team in challenging mountain weather. This role emphasizes reliability and hands-on expertise in a unique, iconic destination.

Qualifications

• Alberta Journeyman certification or pursuing 2nd–4th year apprenticeship.
• Experience diagnosing Detroit Diesel, CAT, MTU and Allison engines/transmissions.
• Familiar with MCI & Prevost highway coaches.
• Class 1–3 driver’s license with airbrake endorsement is preferred.
• Ability to supply own tools up to 3/4" and impact tools.
• Able to work outdoors in mountain weather and lift equipment.
• Self-motivated, team-oriented and safety-minded.

Responsibilities

• Follow Safety 1st standards and procedures.
• Perform preventative maintenance on coaches and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues as needed.
• Replace worn parts and adjust equipment for optimal performance.
• Test repaired equipment and verify proper operation.
• Maintain clean work area and records of service orders.
