Job summary

Amazon Development Centre Canada ULC in Toronto is seeking a highly skilled scientist to advance computer vision and multi-modal ML technologies for Ring devices. You will design, implement, and optimize data-driven models that scale across millions of customers and contribute to safer neighborhoods.

The role requires deep expertise in CV and Vision Language models, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the ability to influence technology choices and sensor data usage.

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience.
  • Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application.
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
  • PhD or equivalent research experience, or a Master’s degree and experience developing and implementing deep learning algorithms, particularly with respect to computer vision algorithms.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, development, evaluation, deployment and updating of data-driven models for computer vision applications.
  • Research and implement the state-of-the-art computer vision and Vision Language models algorithms.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to design and implement computer vision and machine learning based features for Ring devices.
  • Influence system design and product vision by making informed decisions on the selection of technology, data sources, algorithms, and sensors.

This is a great opportunity for you to innovate in this space by developing highly optimized algorithms that will work on scale. This position requires experience with developing CV, Multi‑modal LLMs and/or Vision Language Models. You will collaborate with different Amazon teams to make informed decisions on the best practices in machine learning to build highly‑optimized integrated hardware and software platforms.

Key Job Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience creating novel algorithms and advancing the state of the art.
  • Experience developing and implementing deep learning algorithms, particularly with respect to computer vision algorithms.
  • Experience creating and delivering written and oral communications for technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience in Vision Language Models and LLMs.
  • Exhibits excellent business judgment; balances business, product, and technology very well.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
