Job summary

The University of British Columbia (UBCO) is seeking an Applied Biodiversity Science Lead to provide scientific and technical leadership for biodiversity monitoring and applied research. You will bridge ecological science with community partnerships, supporting Indigenous data sovereignty and collaborative program development across PARC, BRAES, and WSC.

The role emphasizes data management, statistical analysis in R/Python, GIS modelling, and clear communication to diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline with minimum three years of related experience.
• Graduate degree (M.Sc., Ph.D. an asset) is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability in biodiversity monitoring, data management, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead applied wildlife monitoring and biodiversity research projects.
• Design study protocols, collect data, and prepare reports.
• Perform statistical analyses and GIS-based habitat modelling.
• Collaborate with Indigenous communities, government, and partners.
• Develop reproducible analytical workflows and data products.
