Job Description

The Service Applications Team Lead is responsible for leading a team of 4 to 5 Applications Engineering Specialists focused on service proposals and solutions for automation systems in the Life Sciences industry. This role combines technical leadership, proposal development, and team management to ensure high-quality, customer-focused service solutions. The Team Lead will act as the primary point of contact for the team, driving performance, mentoring team members, and aligning activities with business goals.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management
  • Supervise, mentor, and guide a team of Applications Engineering Specialists.
  • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings and performance evaluations.
  • Develop onboarding and training plans for new team members.
  • Lead proposal status meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure team alignment with front-end business goals and service strategy.
Proposal Development & Technical Leadership
  • Plan, organize, and manage service proposal activities.
  • Lead proposal teams to develop innovative, cost-effective service solutions.
  • Analyze customer requirements and develop tailored service concepts.
  • Review and approve cost models, risk mitigation plans, and technical documentation.
  • Present solutions and pricing to senior management and customers.
  • Collaborate with ATS divisions worldwide to leverage global resources and technologies.
Customer Engagement & Sales Support
  • Support sales strategy development and implementation.
  • Partner with key account service leaders / account managers to present proposals and solutions to customers.
  • Travel to customer sites for discovery, proposal presentations, and solution reviews.
  • Maintain records of customer interactions using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce).
Operational Excellence
  • Ensure timely delivery of proposals and adherence to quality standards.
  • Promote continuous improvement in proposal processes and team performance.
  • Identify and proactively communicate additional service opportunities to customers.
  • Provide guidance to project teams post-award to ensure successful execution.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
  • Promote and ensure safe working practices within the team.
  • Report and address any health, safety, or environmental concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant procedures and training requirements.
Qualifications
Education

Post-secondary diploma or degree in Mechanical, Systems, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).

Experience
  • Minimum 5 years in applications engineering, with experience in service proposals and automation solutions.
  • Proven leadership experience and ability to mentor and develop engineering talent.
  • Strong understanding of automation, robotics, machine controls, and manufacturing processes.
Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook, and Windows.
  • Ability to present technical solutions clearly and persuasively.
  • Secondary language skills in Spanish or German are an asset.
