Job Description

Cygnus is pleased to offer a challenging and rewarding career opportunity for an experienced Applications Engineer at our Markham office. As a key member of our project execution team, you will be responsible for leading and contributing to requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and commissioning of SCADA and MES solutions. This will involve serving as the primary point of contact for specific clients and building strong client relationships. As part of an expanding team, you will have opportunities to develop and grow within the company.

Responsibilities will include:

• Designing and developing SCADA and MES applications and systems;
• Delivering successful implementations as per client requirements, budget, and schedule;
• Writing technical documentation including requirements specifications, design specifications, and test protocols for SCADA and MES solutions;
• Providing advice and technical consultation to clients;
• Installing and commissioning systems at client facilities;
• Developing and delivering end-user training; and
• Providing ongoing support to clients.

Qualifications

You have demonstrated success in project execution, collaboration with team members and clients, personal organization, and working with minimal supervision. You take pride in your work, do things right, deliver results, and add value throughout the project lifecycle.

Specific requirements include:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred);
• 2+ years of applicable SCADA/MES experience;
• Proven experience implementing solutions using any major SCADA/MES vendor (Wonderware, Rockwell, Inductive Automation, GE, Siemens, etc.);
• Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server or other database technologies;
• Programming ability in one or more programming languages (Java, C#, Python, etc.);
• Ability to be client-facing and work directly with clients, including experience with requirements gathering and on-site commissioning;
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills;
• Excellent written and oral communications skills;
• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle; and
• Willingness to travel to client sites.

Additional desired qualifications and capabilities include:

• P.Eng.
• Interest in automation and technology
• Familiarity with industry standards such as ANSI/ISA-95 and ANSI/ISA-88
