What the Application Engineer does:
- Support the technical execution of projects, from design to commissioning;
- Define equipment specifications and parameters according to customer requirements;
- Define system configurations, review component sizing, perform calculations, and develop technical solutions;
- Ensure the integration of various systems within the project scope;
- Adapt design concepts to the project in progress and participate in product development when necessary;
- Support all stakeholders involved before and after the design process (Projects, Drafting, Manufacturing, Installation, and Commissioning).
The Application Engineer collaborates with:
- Members of the Engineering team
- Product Line Managers
- Project Directors
- Drafting team
- Manufacturing
- Installation and Commissioning teams
- Travel to various sites across North America
- Number/Frequency of trips: 3–5 per year
- Duration of trips: 10–12 days
Main tasks while traveling:
- Take measurements on existing equipment requiring modification;
- Participate in meetings with clients.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Autonomy, methodical and rigorous approach, customer satisfaction mindset;
- Ability to work in a team and under pressure;
- Strong technical, interpersonal, and negotiation problem‑solving skills;
- Project management skills with proven experience;
- Knowledge of the sawmill industry is a major asset;
- Stress tolerance and ability to manage multiple priorities.
