Job summary

Aker Solutions in Fort McMurray, AB is launching recruitment for API In-Service Inspectors for Spring 2027, with site work on refinery, upgrader, utilities or bitumen units.

You will perform inspections, produce reports, maintain records, and ensure compliance with ABSA and API standards.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years experience, relevant certifications, and fitness to work at heights; willingness for safety training and to pass screenings.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ Inservice Inspector experience in Refinery, Upgrader, Utilities or Bitumen Production Unit.
• API 510/570 visual inspection certification.
• ABSA API 653, ABSA IBPV, IPV, PESL, and CWB II certifications.
• Current safety training certifications or willingness to complete at own expense.
• Site access qualifications including Drug and Alcohol Screening.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work at heights/confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection activities at heights on plant equipment, vessels and piping per inspection plan.
• Produce detailed inspection reports identifying scope and defects.
• Prepare and maintain inspection records and procedures per client program.
• Raise deficiencies needing extra inspection or repair within turnaround window.
• Comply with client and regulatory codes, standards and procedures.
• Follow HSSE policies and safe work practices.

Our Asset Integrity Management team in Fort McMurray, AB, is launching its recruitment campaign for API In-Service Inspectors for Spring 2027, expected to take place from early April though to end of May.

What will you be doing?

• Performing inspection activities potentially at heights on plant equipment, pressure vessels and piping, as outlined in the inspection test plan
• Producing detailed reports of inspections, clearly identifying the scope and any defects or inconsistencies found
• Preparing and maintaining all inspection records and procedures in accordance with the client’s inspection program
• Raising identified deficiencies requiring additional inspection or repair within the turnaround window immediately
• Complying with all client and regulatory codes, standards, and procedures in the execution of work
• Adopting standard safe work practices and procedures in accordance with HSSE policies and industry standards

We think you should have:

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Inservice Inspector in Refinery, Upgrader, Utilities or Bitumen Production Unit with an in-depth knowledge of ABSA requirements for Inservice Equipment, or an equivalent combination of certification and experience.
• Required Certifications: API 510 / 570 visual inspection certification
• Asset Certifications: API 653, ABSA Inservice Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector (IBPV) , ABSA Inservice Pressure Vessel Inspector (IPV) Pressure, Equipment Safety Legislation(PESL) certification, CWB II
• Current certifications for all mandatory safety training, or be willing to complete at own expense
• Must meet qualifications required for site access including Drug and Alcohol Screening
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office SuiteMust be legally permitted to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or possess valid work permit)
• Required to be fit for work, including physical ability to work at heights, or enter confined spaces.
