Intent of the process

Qualifications – Essential
  • Education – Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience.
  • Occupational Certification – Valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Licence (Category M1 or Category M2).
  • Experience – Servicing and maintenance of aircraft – 1+ years.
  • Experience – Writing documents, manuals or reports – 1+ years.
Qualifications – Additional (May be assessed at a later date)
  • Language requirements – English essential; bilingual imperative (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC).
  • Knowledge of legislation and regulations – Canadian Transportation Accident Investigation and Safety Board Act, Transportation Safety Board Regulations, Aeronautics Act, Canadian Aviation Regulations.
  • Knowledge of civil air transportation system and industry – Fixed‑wing and rotary‑wing technical requirements (engines, airframe, systems, maintenance practices).
  • Knowledge of aerodynamics – Fixed‑wing or rotary‑wing aerodynamics.
  • Knowledge of aviation safety trends – Safety Management System, risk management, human factors.
  • Communication skills – Oral and written communication; ability to prioritize work assignments to meet objectives.
  • Leadership and analytical skills – Ability to manage a team, analyze facts, write analyses; effective interpersonal relationships; integrity, initiative, dependability.
Asset – Education

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university or a post‑secondary school diploma in the field of aviation.

Asset – Occupational Certification

Possession of an AME licence with an E or S rating; possession of other aviation licences (e.g. air traffic controller or pilot’s licence).

Asset – Experience
  • Servicing and maintenance of multi‑engine aircraft.
  • Aviation accident investigations or aviation safety programs.
  • Supervising the work of employees in the field of aviation (minimum 1 year).

Conditions of employment
  • Reliability status security clearance.
  • Occupational Health Assessment (Periodic III).
  • Valid driver’s licence in Canada.

  • Response and travel on short notice during and after normal working hours and statutory holidays.
  • Travel within Canada and abroad, including travel by car, rail, ship and air.
  • Availability on standby, on a rotational basis.
  • Willingness to undergo TSB required training.
