Sony Imageworks Vancouver is seeking Animators!

Responsibilities
  • Creates animated characters and objects that meet required direction.
  • Animate both primary and secondary characters by utilizing traditional methods and computer graphics systems to create the desired performance of digital characters within a shot.
  • Convey emotion through body language and facial expressions/dialog as required by each project.
  • Meet schedules and show deadlines; participate in dailies, rounds and team reviews of work in progress.
  • Interact with production, supervisors and team/peers to problem solve and share information related to show/assigned tasks.
  • Decipher and follow through on shot turnovers, dailies, briefings/notes and feedback.
  • Work efficiently as part of a team or independently to determine various design solutions.
  • Animate multiple types of shots from simple to moderately difficult.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of the principles of animation.
  • Knowledge of Maya and other applicable software packages.
  • Background or experience in fine art with understanding of physical motion, weight, balance and form is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of human and animal anatomy as well as life drawing skills are desirable.
  • Most desired: 2 year diploma or 1 year certificate; minimal requirement: 2-3 years of relevant experience may be accepted.
Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated base salary for an Associate position is $26.44 to $36.32/hr and for an Intermediate position is $32.02 to $43.99/hr. Benefits are per company policy: healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSP's, Sick and Vacation leave, and standard increases as applicable. The actual base salary offered will depend on factors including qualifications, years of relevant experience, education, certifications, and location.
